Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers Highlight Top NHL Prospects
A new series profiling junior‑league talent has examined the prospect pools of two NHL clubs. For the Colorado Avalanche, the focus was on OHL players such as Czech defenceman Ondrej Ruml, who posted 28 points in 66 games for the Ottawa 67’s and represented Czechia at the U18 World Championship, and Swedish defenceman Linus Funck, who recorded 28 points with Luleå HF J20 before joining the London Knights. Forward Christian Humphreys, a former Pittsburgh native, logged 85 points for the Kitchener Rangers and helped them win the OHL Championship and Memorial Cup.
The Edmonton Oilers’ WHL prospects were highlighted next. Forward Tommy Lafreniere tallied 77 points for the Kamloops Blazers and earned a brief AHL stint with the Bakersfield Condors. German winger David Lewandowski contributed 65 points for the Saskatoon Blades and also appeared for the Condors. Additional prospects included Aidan Park, who split time between the Calgary Hitmen and the University of Michigan, and James Stefan, who spent most of his second pro season in the ECHL. The series showcases players who are under 25, have limited NHL experience, and are slated for future NHL contributions.
