Colorado Avalanche place goaltender Trent Miner on waivers
The Colorado Avalanche have placed goaltender Trent Miner on waivers. The 25-year-old has recovered from an undisclosed preseason injury that initially placed him on the injured/non-roster list.
Miner, a seventh-round pick from 2019, has seen limited NHL action over the past two seasons. During the 2025-26 season, he appeared in four games, recording a 2.03 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage. He has also spent significant time with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles, where he posted a 22-10-6 record and a .918 save percentage last season.
If Miner is not claimed by another NHL team by the deadline, Colorado will be able to assign him to the American Hockey League. Clearing him from the roster would also allow the Avalanche to remove a dead cap charge of approximately $168,229, which would significantly increase their available cap space.
