Colorado Congressman seeks federal probe into violent anti-ICE protest

U.S. House Representative Jeff Crank is requesting a federal investigation by the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division following a violent anti-ICE protest in Denver. The demonstration, held on September 4 at La Alma-Lincoln Park, resulted in five reported assaults. Denver Police reported that five victims were transported to a hospital with unknown injuries, and one individual, 43-year-old Armando Geneyro, was charged with simple assault.

The protests were part of a statewide movement organized by the Colorado Youth Coalition, which mobilized over 150 schools to protest against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In his letter to Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon, Rep. Crank cited reports of assaults on journalists and counter-protesters, expressing concern that participants may have been unlawfully prevented from exercising constitutional rights.
