Colorado counties face flash flood and thunderstorm warnings

The National Weather Service has issued several weather alerts for parts of Colorado, including flash flood warnings and special weather statements.

In Custer and Pueblo Counties, a life-threatening flash flood warning was issued due to thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Middle Aspen Acres Burn Scar. This situation is expected to trigger debris flows consisting of rock, mud, and vegetation through several drainages, including North Saint Charles, South Creek, Squirrel Creek, Middle Creek, and North Creek. High-risk areas include Beulah and San Isabel.

Additionally, flash flood warnings were issued for South Central El Paso County. Thunderstorms in the region have also brought hazards such as wind gusts up to 40 mph, hail, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. Residents in affected rural areas of southeastern El Paso, northwestern Crowley, and northeastern Pueblo Counties have been advised to seek shelter and avoid flooded roadways.
