Colorado Department of Transportation completes key highway and mountain road repairs

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) finished a 20‑month repair project on the Mount Blue Sky Scenic Byway, allowing cyclists to return for the Bob Cook Memorial Hill Climb after a two‑year closure. In the Saturday race, cyclist John Keller won the event, posting a time of 1:47:50 and marking his first victory in the competition.

CDOT is also addressing long‑standing pavement issues on Interstate 25 between Bijou Street and the Colorado Avenue bridge. Using a foam‑jacking technique, contractors drill small holes into sunken concrete panels and inject polyurethane foam that hardens in under 30 minutes, restoring the roadway quickly. "It's really unknown what caused those dips to develop," said CDOT maintenance supervisor Eric Meyers, who explained that the foam is waterproof and erosion‑resistant compared with traditional mud jacking.
