Colorado Drought Task Force advises Gov. Jared Polis on water‑saving measures

A Colorado drought task force presented four recommendations to Governor Jared Polis to curb water use amid a deep statewide drought. The proposals call for statewide facilities to develop water‑efficiency plans, conduct audits, detect leaks and evaluate landscaping; shift outdoor water management to reduce lawn irrigation; limit washing of state‑owned vehicles; and grant temporary tax‑deadline extensions for small businesses, agricultural producers and recreation operators affected by the drought.

State climatologist Russ Schumacher noted that recent monsoon rains have provided some relief but uncertainty remains for the upcoming fall and winter, underscoring the need for long‑term conservation actions.
