Colorado elections see tight races in 3rd Congressional District and Grand County

A new poll shows the race for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District is essentially a toss‑up, with Republican incumbent Jeff Hurd leading Democratic challenger Dwayne Romero by just one point. The survey of 500 likely voters, conducted July 21‑23, gave Hurd 46% support, Romero 45% and 9% undecided. Both campaigns have disputed the poll’s independence, but the district – historically Republican – has become competitive in recent cycles.

In Grand County, the District 3 commissioner seat is also contested. Republican incumbent Randy George, appointed in 2021 and elected in 2022, faces unaffiliated challenger Jeremy D. Krones in the November 3 election. The commissioner oversees a large, sparsely populated area that includes Grand Lake, Kremmling and Hot Sulphur Springs, and the board controls the county’s budget and local services.
