Colorado Parks and Wildlife lifts fishing closures on several rivers

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has lifted voluntary fishing closures on portions of the Colorado, Fraser, and White rivers due to cooler water temperatures.

Specific updates include the lifting of closures on the Colorado River from Windy Gap Dam to the Williams Fork confluence and from Red Dirt Creek to the Highway 13 bridge in Rifle. On the Fraser River, afternoon voluntary closures were lifted from County Road 8 downstream to the Colorado River confluence. For the White River, afternoon closures were lifted on the North and South Forks, as well as sections of the main river near County Road 5.

Despite these improvements, full-day voluntary closures remain in effect for the Eagle, Crystal, Elk, and Yampa rivers due to high temperatures and low flows. Additionally, a mandatory fishing closure persists on the Yampa River from the Stagecoach State Park dam for a 0.6-mile stretch. CPW advises anglers to check current conditions before traveling to protect fish populations.
