Colorado relocation growth slows as migration shifts south

Colorado is experiencing a slowdown in its previous relocation boom, according to recent migration data from U-Haul. The state’s growth rank has dropped to 23rd, while Denver is ranked 20th among growth metros.

Data indicates that migration into and out of Colorado is currently nearly balanced, with both directions accounting for approximately 50 percent of movement. In contrast, migration trends show a significant preference for southern states. Texas currently leads with a 50.7 percent influx migration rate, followed by other states south of the Mason-Dixon Line, including South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Florida.
