Colorado River faces historic lows amid drought and water shortages
The Colorado River system is facing critical water shortages driven by record low snowpack in the Rocky Mountains and extreme temperatures. Lake Mead has reached a historic low, currently at only 27% of its design capacity. This decline threatens the hydropower production of dams that provide electricity for approximately 1.6 million homes.
