Colorado Rockies designate Michael Lorenzen for assignment

The Colorado Rockies have designated right-handed pitcher Michael Lorenzen for assignment. Lorenzen, 34, joined the team on a one-year, $8 million deal signed in January, which includes a $9 million club option for 2027.

During his tenure with the Rockies, Lorenzen has struggled, posting a 7.08 ERA over 115.2 innings with a 3-11 record. He has not recorded a win since June 27.

To fill the roster spot, the Rockies have recalled right-handed pitcher TJ Shook from Triple-A Albuquerque. Shook, 28, was selected by Colorado from the New York Mets in the 2025 Rule 5 Draft. He has maintained a 3.02 ERA in 42.7 innings this season.
