Chicago White Sox clinch Wild Card spot after losing AL Central title

The Chicago White Sox have officially lost their chance to win the AL Central division following a 9-6 loss to the Colorado Rockies. The defeat, combined with a Cleveland Guardians victory over the Kansas City Royals, confirms the Guardians as division champions.

Despite the loss, the White Sox have secured a postseason berth as the third wild card team. This marks a historic turnaround for the franchise, which became the first team to reach the playoffs after consecutive 100-loss seasons. The White Sox will now advance to the Wild Card Series, where they are scheduled to play against the winner of the AL West matchup between the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros.

Individual performances highlighted the games, including Hunter Goodman hitting his 40th and 41st home runs for the Rockies. Munetaka Murakami has been a central figure for the White Sox, recently hitting his 34th and 35th home runs of the season in separate performances, including a notable two-homer game against Tomoyuki Sugano.
