Colorado Rockies focus on pitching for 2026 free agency

The Colorado Rockies are entering the 2026 free agency period with a focus on strengthening their pitching staff. Analysts suggest the organization should prioritize signing right-handed pitcher Jack Flaherty to help revitalize their roster.

Flaherty, 31, is coming off a season with the Detroit Tigers where he posted a 3-8 record and a 4.48 ERA. Despite these statistics, he brings significant postseason experience, including a 2024 World Series championship with the Los Angeles Dodgers. His ability to strike out batters and his mental toughness are cited as key assets that could benefit the Rockies.

Additionally, the Rockies' roster is seeing transitions following the 2026 season. Venezuelan right-handed pitcher Eiberson Castellano, who progressed through the Rockies' minor league system and earned Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week honors, is heading into free agency after a single season with the club.
