Colorado Rockies place Willi Castro on injured list

The Colorado Rockies have placed infielder and outfielder Willi Castro on the 10-day injured list due to left heel inflammation. The move, which is retroactive to Wednesday, follows Castro dealing with plantar fasciitis. He has not played since Monday against the Baltimore Orioles.

During the current season, the 29-year-old Castro has recorded a career-high 15 home runs and a .260 batting average across 120 games. In a corresponding roster move, the Rockies selected the contract of infielder Vimael Machin from Triple-A Albuquerque. Additionally, outfielder Tyler Freeman was outrighted to Albuquerque to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.
