Colorado Rockies players Tyler Freeman and Tanner Gordon conclude 2026 seasons

Veteran infielder Tyler Freeman has elected free agency following the 2026 season with the Colorado Rockies. After being designated for assignment in late August, Freeman spent time in the minor leagues but has chosen to test the open market rather than remain in the minors. During his 79 games with the Rockies this season, Freeman recorded a career-low -2.0 WAR and a .247 career batting average.

In related roster developments, pitcher Tanner Gordon finished the 2026 season with a -0.2 rWAR. Despite making adjustments to his pitching repertoire—including increasing his curveball usage and improving his whiff rate to 21.7%—Gordon struggled with consistency, posting a 6.68 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP over 103.2 innings.
