Colorado Rockies sweep Kansas City Royals as Kyle Freeland throws first complete game

The Colorado Rockies defeated the Kansas City Royals 8-1 in Denver, completing a series sweep. Starting pitcher Kyle Freeland recorded his first career complete game, striking out eight batters over 115 pitches and retiring 18 consecutive hitters before a late double by Salvador Pérez. Freeland’s effort was the Rockies’ first complete game since June 2022 and helped the team sweep the series for the first time since a three‑game sweep of the New York Mets in April.
