Colorado Springs to host 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships

Colorado Springs has been selected to host the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships, which will serve as the primary qualification event for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The tournament is scheduled to take place from October 4-10, 2027, at Weidner Field.

As the first-ever World Lacrosse championship in the sixes discipline, the event will feature 16 men's and 16 women's national teams representing Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Pan-America. The competition holds high stakes for participating nations, as five of the six available Olympic spots for both genders will be determined during this seven-day event.

World Lacrosse CEO Jim Scherr noted that Colorado Springs, known as ‘Olympic City USA,’ is a fitting location for the championship given its status as the home of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee and numerous national sports organizations.
