Colorado Western Slope faces warm temperatures and weekend storms

Colorado’s Western Slope is expected to experience warmer-than-normal temperatures and weak thunderstorms through the weekend. Monsoonal moisture flowing from the south is contributing to the weather patterns.

While lower-elevation areas like Glenwood Springs may see highs in the 80s, higher-elevation locations such as Vail are forecast to reach the high 60s. Scattered showers and windy conditions are expected to increase from Friday night through Sunday, with most precipitation occurring on Saturday and Sunday. Rainfall accumulation is projected to be between 0.1 and 0.5 inches, though some higher elevations could exceed 0.5 inches.

Temperatures are currently sitting 5-7 degrees above seasonal norms. According to the Climate Prediction Center, there is a 33-50% chance that Colorado will maintain above-normal temperatures through the next 30 days, with up to a 40% chance of continued warmth through November.
