OnePlus moves to ColorOS 17 beta and pulls out of Europe, North America

OnePlus, along with Oppo and Realme, has launched a closed‑beta program for the upcoming ColorOS 17 interface, which is based on Android 17. The test is limited to 300 participants per device and required applications were open only on 6–7 August. Eligible models include Oppo Find X9 Pro, Reno 15 Pro (and Mini), Realme GT 8 Pro (including special editions), OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 15R, as well as the OnePlus Pad 3 Pro tablet. Participants must pass a short quiz, sign a non‑disclosure agreement and provide personal data before receiving the OTA build.

Beta testing is taking place in several regions: India, Indonesia and Malaysia for Oppo devices, India for OnePlus and Realme phones, and China for a broader set of Oppo flagship models. The program is intended to evaluate performance improvements from the new Trinity Engine, visual redesigns such as Light Form Glass, and energy‑efficiency enhancements.

In parallel, OnePlus announced that it will cease sales of new phones in North America and Europe, shifting all existing devices to receive ColorOS updates instead of OxygenOS. The move is part of BBK Electronics' strategy to unify its brands—OnePlus, Oppo and Realme—under a single software platform and to focus on the Indian and Chinese markets amid a global chipset shortage that has driven storage costs up sharply.
