Colosseum hosts Troy and Rome exhibition attracting 2 million visitors

The ‘Troy and Rome: Myths, Legends, and Stories of the Ancient Mediterranean’ exhibition at the Colosseum in Rome hosted over 2 million visitors. Held from June 11 to October 18, the exhibition was a collaborative cultural project between the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Italian Ministry of Culture.

The exhibition explored the Trojan War, the political landscape of ancient Anatolia, and the myths found in Homer’s Iliad. It specifically highlighted the journey of Aeneas from Troy to Italy and the Anatolian origins of Rome’s founders.

Designed as a tool for cultural diplomacy, the initiative aimed to strengthen relations between Turkey and Italy while promoting Turkey’s cultural values on an international scale through archaeological heritage.
