Colt Gray Sentenced in Georgia Apalachee High School Shooting
On September 4, 2024, 16‑year‑old Colt Gray opened fire at Apalachee High School in Barrow County, Georgia, killing two teachers, Richard “Ricky” Aspinwall and Cristina Irimie, and two 14‑year‑old students, Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo. During sentencing hearings, a forensic psychologist testified that Colt Gray experienced a chaotic, financially strained upbringing, frequent moves, parental drug use and isolation, and that he was deeply immersed in an online community focused on mass shootings. The psychologist noted Gray’s paranoia but concluded the attack was planned rather than driven by delusions.
