Colton Herta faces F1 technical inquiry and F2 crash at Monza

American driver Colton Herta experienced a difficult day at Monza involving both Formula 2 and Formula 1 sessions. During Formula 2 practice, Herta crashed his Hitech car after losing control at the second Lesmo corner, resulting in significant rear-end damage. He was uninjured in the accident.

Following the crash, Herta was scheduled to participate in Formula 1 Free Practice 1 for Cadillac, driving the MAC-26. However, the Cadillac team was summoned by race stewards following a technical non-compliance during the session. The team's car stopped after only twenty minutes of activity because the clutch disengagement system failed to function correctly when Herta attempted to pull off the track.

Cadillac must now provide explanations to the stewards, facing potential penalties similar to recent incidents in Formula 1 where technical failures resulted in significant fines.
