Colts WR Josh Downs targets bigger role in 2024 season

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs entered his fourth NFL season and a contract year expressing confidence that he will see a larger role. With fellow receivers Alec Pierce, Michael Pittman Jr. and A.D. Mitchell sidelined, Downs said he expects more targets and wants to prove his versatility, stating, “I feel like I’m a really, really good receiver and I have a lot more ability to show it this year.”

Colts head coach Shane Steichen and general manager Chris Ballard both indicated the team will look for ways to involve Downs more in the offense during training camp and the upcoming season. Downs also discussed a receivers’ bonding trip organized by quarterback Daniel Jones, his upcoming matchup against his brother Caleb, and his preference for playing on grass fields over turf.
