Columbia Basin Culture Tour Returns Aug 8‑9 Across 87 Locations

The Columbia Basin Culture Tour returns for its 18th year, scheduled for August 8‑9, 2026, with events running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 87 venues throughout the Columbia Basin region. Participating locations include Christina Lake, Valemount, Kamloops, Nelson and Cranbrook.

Kallee Lins, executive director of the West Kootenay Regional Arts Council, said the program now features a broader mix of artists, noting an increase in fiber, textile and wood‑working exhibitors. Eight Nelson‑based artists will appear, among them Lainey Benson, who splits her time between Nelson and Montréal, Québec, and whose paintings focus on the sense of place in both communities. The tour is promoted as a “celebration of creativity” that offers travellers and locals a fresh perspective on rural life.

The event aims to strengthen community ties and showcase regional artistic talent across two countries.
