Columbia Women's Basketball Hires Nicole Stephens as Scouting Assistant

Columbia University announced that alumna Nicole Stephens ’24CC has been appointed Scouting & Player Development Assistant for the women's basketball program. In her new role Stephens will handle roster coordination, recruiting database management, transfer‑portal tracking, and compile player‑development data and analytics. She will also support day‑to‑day operations, including scheduling workouts, film sessions, and managing practice and game‑day logistics.

Head coach Megan Griffith praised the hire, saying, “We are ecstatic to have Nicole back home… she brings a strong desire to learn and teach and will be a tremendous mentor for our younger players.” Stephens played for Columbia from 2020‑2024, helping the Lions win their first two Ivy League championships (2023, 2024), reach the 2023 WNIT championship game and make the program’s inaugural NCAA tournament appearance in 2024. She later played graduate basketball at Dayton, earning Academic All‑Atlantic 10 honors and the Dayton Athletics “Most Outstanding Leader” award. Stephens holds a BA in Sociology from Barnard College and an MS in Education and Human Services from Dayton.
