Columbiana County prepares for Suicide Prevention Month
The Columbiana County Suicide Prevention Coalition is preparing for Suicide Prevention Month in September. The group, which includes behavioral health professionals, survivors, and family members, aims to reduce stigma and connect local families with resources.
Addressing challenges specific to rural areas, such as limited access to doctors and longer travel distances for care, the coalition is implementing a community-wide outreach strategy. Efforts include distributing information about the 24/7 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline through food pantries, pizza shops, churches, and gun shops. The coalition also intends to partner with local tattoo shops for fundraisers to foster dialogue and support.
