Columbiana cross country moves home meets due to construction

The Columbiana cross country team will be unable to host any home meets this season due to unexpected construction at the Ward Athletic Complex. Coach Crystal Siembida Boggs stated that construction moved ahead of schedule, which closed the new course and forced the relocation of three scheduled meets.

The Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference Meet, scheduled for October 6, has been moved to East Palestine City Park. Two other events—a Suburban League meet on September 15 and the 28th Clipper Invitational on October 17—will now take place at the Youngstown State course near the Canfield Fairgrounds.

Relocating the meets involves additional expenses, including a $1,500 rental fee for the Youngstown State course, which is owned by Mill Creek MetroParks, plus per-runner and parking fees. The Mill Creek MetroParks board is expected to review the rental approval at its September 14 meeting.
