JYP wins the Tampere Cup ice hockey tournament

JYP won the Tampere Cup ice hockey tournament held at the Hakametsä ice hall. In the final, JYP defeated Tappara with a score of 2–1. The decisive goal was scored by Valtteri Ojantaara in the 54th minute.

Earlier in the tournament, JYP reached the final by defeating HIFK 5–3 in the semifinals. Tappara secured their place in the final by beating Ilves 3–2 in overtime. In the bronze medal match, Ilves defeated HIFK 1–0 in a shootout after a scoreless regulation and overtime period.

The tournament also highlighted a technical error in the Liiga statistics service, which briefly listed JYP sports director Simo Mälkiä in the starting lineup instead of Swedish forward Daniel Torgensson.
