Columbus shooting suspect Massamba Dièye released on bail

Massamba Dièye, a 19-year-old Senegalese national, has been released on bail following his arrest in connection with a fatal shooting in Columbus, Ohio. The incident occurred in the early hours of August 23 in the Short North neighborhood, resulting in the death of 20-year-old Tiegiaion Clement.

While a judge initially set bail at $4 million, the amount was later reduced to $250,000. Dièye, who has pleaded not guilty to six charges, was released on September 18 subject to strict conditions. These include electronic monitoring, a prohibition on firearm possession, and orders to avoid contact with victims or co-defendants.

Investigators identified three suspects, including two minors, following a SWAT operation. The case has been transferred to the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, and Dièye is scheduled for a further court appearance on October 5.
