COMA announces 100,000 euros in LUMED 2026 medical scholarships

The Colegio Oficial de Médicos de Alicante (COMA) and its foundation, FUNCOMA, have announced the ‘LUMED 2026 scholarships’ to support medical research, continuous training, and innovation. The program offers a total of 100,000 euros in aid to students, residents, specialists, and researchers within the medical community of Alicante.

A key component of the initiative is the second edition of the ‘Medical Research Aid,’ which features a 50,000-euro grant. Applications are open until September 30, with the requirement that at least one principal investigator must be a physician registered with COMA. The call for proposals is open to projects in both the public and private sectors.

Dr. Ana Segura, Vice President of COMA, emphasized the importance of these resources to support the province's medical research ecosystem, noting that while local talent is high, additional resources are necessary for continued development.
