Coma-ruga and El Vendrell hit by severe flash flooding

Heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding in Coma-ruga and El Vendrell, leading to emergency rescues and significant property damage. In El Vendrell, local police had to rescue a driver trapped in a van after torrential rain flooded an underpass at Los Masos de Coma-ruga. Officers broke the vehicle's windows to extract the driver, who sustained only minor injuries.

In Coma-ruga, the flooding has reached unprecedented levels for some residents. Water levels in certain areas reached up to one meter, submerging vehicles and entering homes. Residents reported that even streets previously considered safe from flooding were inundated with mud and water.

Local inhabitants have expressed indignation, attributing the severity of the damage to deficient infrastructure. Specifically, residents pointed to recent construction work on the Coma-ruga stream and new channeling systems as potential factors that exacerbated the flooding during the intense downpour.
