Comacchio opposition rejects majority decision on programming document

The minority coalition in Comacchio, comprising the lists ‘Si Può’ and ‘Io Voto’, has condemned the local majority for rejecting all 41 amendments presented to the municipality’s Single Programming Document (Dup). The opposition claims these amendments were based on technical analysis and addressed critical local needs, including support for disability, educational assistance, and the protection of the eel, a species central to the local ecosystem and economy.

Opposition councilors expressed frustration that some rejected proposals had previously received favorable technical opinions from municipal offices. Tensions escalated during the session following a statement by Mayor Pierluigi Bellotti, who reportedly told the council, ‘I won the elections, and I will make the Dup.’ The minority argues this stance contradicts the Mayor’s previous calls for collaboration and undermines the democratic role of the opposition.

Furthermore, the minority criticized the Dup for lacking a structured model for civic participation, noting that while it mentions existing tools like the Youth Forum and health needs observatory, it fails to establish a permanent framework for public assemblies or systematic citizen consultation.
