Comandante Nádia honored in Porto Alegre City Council Gallery
Comandante Nádia, a councilwoman and elected state deputy, has been officially inducted into the Gallery of Presidents at the Porto Alegre City Council. During a ceremony held on Wednesday, her portrait was unveiled to mark the conclusion of her leadership term.
Her presidency in 2025 was characterized by the reconstruction of the legislative building following the devastating floods of 2024 in Rio Grande do Sul. Nádia managed the recovery of the facility's damaged ground floor while maintaining legislative sessions and public hearings.
Nádia is one of only five women to have presided over the 253-year-old institution, a milestone she noted as a sign of increasing female participation in politics.
