Comando Vermelho leader Marisson dos Santos Silva arrested in Rio de Janeiro
Marisson dos Santos Silva, a prominent leader of the Comando Vermelho criminal organization in the Bahia region, was arrested in Rio de Janeiro. The operation was a coordinated effort between the Civil Police of Bahia and Rio de Janeiro, supported by the Federal Highway Police (PRF).
Silva, known by the aliases ‘Nino Braw’ or ‘Nino Brown,’ was intercepted on the Presidente Dutra Highway near Serra das Araras while traveling from Rio de Janeiro toward São Paulo. He was wanted under a temporary arrest warrant issued by the Salvador court.
Investigations indicate that Silva’s defection from the Bonde do Maluco (BDM) faction to the Comando Vermelho triggered an escalation of violent territorial disputes in the Cajazeiras region of Salvador. He is currently under investigation for the July 2026 death of 17-year-old Gustavo Barbosa dos Santos, as well as two attempted homicides. Authorities seized a vehicle and mobile devices during the arrest.
