Comandos de Salvamento celebrates 66 years of service in El Salvador

The Salvadoran humanitarian institution Comandos de Salvamento celebrated its 66th anniversary with a parade through the streets of San Salvador. The procession began at Parque Cuscatlán and concluded at the Ministry of the Interior (Ministerio de Gobernación), featuring hundreds of volunteers, peace bands, and specialized rescue teams.

Founded on September 30, 1960, the organization has grown from 10 original members to a network of over 1,500 volunteers operating across 34 sections nationwide. The institution provides essential services including pre-hospital care, mountain rescue, vertical rescue, and disaster risk management. Currently, the group responds to approximately 60 emergencies daily, covering incidents such as traffic accidents, medical emergencies, and natural disasters.

The anniversary event included a ceremony to recognize the contributions of various members, partner organizations, and journalists for their informative work.
