Comayagua police arrest suspect in journalist's murder

Honduran authorities have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the murder of José González García, a 56-year-old journalist and professor in Comayagua. The suspect was apprehended in the 21 de Abril neighborhood following investigations into the killing, which occurred at a residence in the Lomas del Río neighborhood.

Preliminary investigations suggest a possible crime of passion. Police reports indicate that González García had hosted a gathering on a Friday involving close acquaintances and alcohol. During the event, a dispute reportedly occurred that escalated into a stabbing attack.

Following the incident, the suspect allegedly fled the scene with several electronic devices. Investigators utilized witness statements and security camera footage to locate the individual. During the arrest, police seized a mobile phone and a taxi-type vehicle believed to be linked to the case.
