Combarbalá hosts second José “Pepe” Carvajal Book Fair
The second edition of the José “Pepe” Carvajal Book Fair took place on October 22 and 23 in the Plaza de Armas of Combarbalá, Chile. The event aimed to promote regional heritage, literature, and reading through public engagement.
Key highlights included the participation of writer and journalist Mario Banic Illanes, who presented his latest works. Additionally, the fair featured the posthumous presentation of the book “Pedro León Gallo” by Braulio Martínez Loyola. The presentation, led by poets Luis Barbieri and Arturo Volantines alongside cultural manager Patricio Castro, explored the life of the military leader, poet, and parliamentarian known for his role in the 1859 Revolution.
The initiative was funded by the Coquimbo Regional Government’s Cultura 2026 Fund and supported by the Piedra Cielo Literary and Cultural Group, the Ministry of Education, and the University of La Serena’s ALAIN ULS 2493 platform.
