SkyShowtime owners Comcast and Paramount review service future

Comcast and Paramount Skydance have launched a strategic review of SkyShowtime, their European streaming joint venture, which includes the possibility of shutting down or selling the service. The decision was communicated in a letter from the board to CEO Monty Sarhan, citing an increasingly competitive and demanding market landscape.

SkyShowtime, which launched in late 2022, operates in approximately 22 European markets and serves several million subscribers. The platform aggregates content from NBCUniversal, Paramount, Sky Studios, and other major studios to provide services in regions where Peacock and Paramount+ are not directly available.

While the review is underway, the service will continue to operate normally. Shareholders are evaluating all strategic options, and a final resolution is not expected until 2027. The review occurs amid broader industry shifts, including potential mergers and restructuring within the parent companies.
