Comedian Gaku of Shinkū Jessica holds press conference for first essay book

Gaku, a member of the comedy duo Shinkū Jessica, held a press conference in Tokyo to celebrate the publication of his first essay collection, titled ‘Manjū Igai Zenbu Kowai’ (Everything Except Manjū is Scary), published by Shinchosha.

During the event, Gaku discussed the challenges of writing, noting that he struggled with deadlines and the creative process. He shared anecdotes about his fear of various everyday tasks and his experiences with the M-1 Grand Prix, including a controversial ad-lib during a previous competition that prevented his duo from reaching the final round.

He also touched upon his relationship with his comedy partner, Kawakita, mentioning that while Kawakita’s unpredictable behavior can be intimidating, their long-term partnership is essential. Gaku expressed hope that readers will find empathy in his descriptions of navigating life’s anxieties.
