Comedian Junichi Kawamoto hospitalized for emergency medical treatment

Comedian Junichi Kawamoto, a member of the comedy duo Jicho Kachō, has been hospitalized following a sudden medical emergency. During a broadcast of the radio program ‘Young Town Saturday’ on October 26, fellow entertainer Sanma Akashiya revealed that Kawamoto had to withdraw from the ‘IMM THEATER Yose’ stage performances in Tokyo.

Akashiya noted that Kawamoto’s condition appeared to be either nephritis or pancreatitis, potentially exacerbated by stress. The sudden hospitalization forced production staff to rewrite scripts and adjust planned segments that were originally designed around Kawamoto’s participation.

Akashiya expressed concern for Kawamoto’s health, noting that while the remaining performers are capable of covering the scheduled shows, the situation required immediate adjustments. Kawamoto reportedly sent an apology via LINE, to which Akashiya responded by urging him to prioritize his recovery.
