Comedian Kurt Krömer responds to AfD legal complaint

German comedian Kurt Krömer has released a video on Instagram addressing recent tensions with the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. The controversy follows a criminal complaint filed by AfD state parliament member Dennis Hohloch, who accused the comedian of incitement to hatred and insult after Krömer excluded AfD voters from his planned reading tour.

In his initial response, Krömer stated his criticism was directed at the fact that parts of the AfD have been classified as right-wing extremist by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. He suggested the party should remove extremists to become a legitimate right-wing political entity, citing the CDU of the 1980s as an example.

Krömer later posted a follow-up video in which he used a satirical tone to offer an “apology.” He claimed he had “really messed up” by expressing that he found right-wing extremists “shitty,” noting that his comments might have alienated non-extremist members of the party. However, he clarified that his stance on the AfD as a whole remains unchanged, stating, “I find the AfD, viewed as a complete work of art, shitty. Please do not come [to my show].”
