Comedian Nadal faces criticism over prioritizing commercials over comedy

During a broadcast of the ABEMA variety program ‘Shikujiri Sensei: Ore Mitai ni Naruna!!’, comedian Nadal of the duo Korokoro Chikitiki Peppers faced intense criticism from fellow comedians and his comedy partner, Sohito Nishino.

Nishino and other guests, including Miki’s Asei, argued that Nadal has changed significantly, suggesting he has lost the drive that once made him a star. Nishino noted that while Nadal used to repeat gags until they landed, he now treats comedy more as a secondary element to commercial work. Nadal sparked controversy by stating that he prioritizes commercial deals over comedy, remarking, “CMs are the axis.”

The discussion also touched upon the conclusion of four of Nadal’s regular programs. Nishino suggested these shows may have ended because Nadal prioritized compensation, leading to speculation that he may have actively ended them to manage his schedule and earnings. The segment highlighted a perceived shift in Nadal’s professional focus from comedic performance to commercial viability.
