Comedian Romesh Ranganathan reports racist abuse against wife

Comedian Romesh Ranganathan has revealed that his wife, Leesa, was targeted by online trolls with racist messages. During a performance in New Malden, the British-Sri Lankan star shared that Leesa received an Instagram message branding her a “race traitor” because of her marriage to him.

The message reportedly told her, “You are no longer welcome among the whites.” Ranganathan noted that while he attempts to provide perspective by pointing to their successful life together, the incident left his wife “incredibly upset.”

This incident follows previous discussions by Ranganathan regarding the racist abuse he receives daily and the experiences of racism faced by his sons. The couple, who met while teaching at Hazelwick School, have been married since 2009 and have three children.
