Comfenalco Antioquia faces investigation over alleged political control

The Colombian Ministry of Labor and the acting Superintendent of Family Subsidies, Natalia López Fuentes, announced they will submit evidence to the Prosecutor General's Office regarding alleged irregularities at Comfenalco Antioquia. The government claims a political interest group known as “Telaraña Azul” is attempting to maintain control over the entity, which manages approximately one trillion pesos intended for workers and families in the Antioquia region.

As part of an ongoing financial, legal, and administrative review, the new special intervention agent, Fabián Mayor, suspended the organization's General Assembly scheduled for August 31. However, a municipal court in Heliconia issued a provisional ruling via a tutela action, ordering that the assembly proceed as originally scheduled. The meeting is significant as it involves the election of employer representatives to the organization's Board of Directors.
