Quarona implements nightlife restrictions amid Sicilian extortion arrest

In Quarona, Mayor Francesco Pietrasanta has implemented a new ordinance to combat public disorder and nighttime disturbances. The measure prohibits the outdoor consumption of alcoholic beverages between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM across the municipality. This decision follows citizen reports regarding noise, dangerous driving, verbal aggression, and property damage.

Local police will increase patrols to monitor gatherings that obstruct public spaces or disturb residents. Authorities may issue fines or seize vehicles if necessary. To support youth engagement, the administration is working to reopen local community centers and develop sports programs.

In a separate legal development in Sicily, Carabinieri in Vittoria arrested a 33-year-old man from Comiso. The individual was taken to the Ragusa prison to serve a remaining sentence of one year and eight months. The arrest stems from a 2017 extortion case involving a local merchant.
