Comité Institucional Codiano demands payment of state debts

The Comité Institucional Codiano (CIC) has issued formal communications to ten public institutions in the Dominican Republic, demanding information regarding the payment of state debts to contractors. This action follows delays in complying with the operational protocol of the Commission for the Execution of Law No. 16-26.

CIC spokesperson Miguel Liberato stated that despite receiving the protocol over three months ago, several debtor entities have failed to submit the documentation necessary to verify and validate outstanding claims. There are currently 92 files pending, some involving obligations that have remained unpaid for more than six years.

The affected institutions include the Ministry of Housing and Buildings (MIVED), the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), the Ministry of Education (MINERD), the National Institute of Potable Water and Sewerage (INAPA), the National Housing Institute (INAVI), and the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INDRHI).

The CIC warned that if the institutions do not respond within the legal timeframes established by the General Law on Free Access to Public Information, the committee will evaluate administrative and judicial actions, including the possibility of peaceful protests.
