Comitato Cibele hosts heritage walk to protect Torre Canne coastline

The Comitato per la Salvaguardia della Piana e Costa di Fasano – Cibele, in collaboration with Italia Nostra, Legambiente Ostuni, and the Parco Regionale Delle Dune Costiere, organized the first Heritage Walk in Torre Canne on October 4. The event drew significant citizen participation for a walk spanning from Lido La Zanzara to the mouths of Fiume Grande and Fiume Piccolo.

Participants engaged in educational sessions led by experts regarding the coastline's history, geological dynamics of the dunes, and the regulatory frameworks for its protection. The initiative aimed to highlight the ongoing threats of urbanization and privatization facing the remaining natural stretches of the coast. Organizers emphasized the urgent need to preserve the remaining public and natural areas from further construction and invasive interventions.
