Comites elections scheduled for December 2026

Elections for the renewal of the Comitato degli Italiani all’Estero (Comites) have been scheduled for December 4, 2026. These committees serve as essential bodies for representing and protecting the interests of Italian citizens living abroad within consular districts.

In Fiume, the new committee will consist of 12 members. To participate in the vote, citizens must register on the electoral roll at their respective consulate by the deadline of November 4, 2026. For the Fiume constituency, December 4 also serves as the final date by which voted ballots must reach the consulate.

The election process includes several key milestones: the submission of candidate lists is set for late September to early October 2026, followed by the mailing of electoral materials to registered voters on November 15, 2026. Being registered in the AIRE (Registry of Italians Residing Abroad) is not sufficient for voting; an explicit application for the electoral list is required.
