Comix Wave Films releases short animation ‘Shiranuhi’

The short animated film ‘Shiranuhi’ has been released by Comix Wave Films, the studio known for works such as ‘Your Name’. The film features a story set in 1996 in a seaside town in Kumamoto, focusing on a young boy named Minato and his relationship with a deity named Ben-chan.

At a promotional event for the film, voice actress and artist Ano, who voices the protagonist Minato, discussed her personal life, mentioning she currently manages three different residences and wishes she could complete the move-out procedures for them. Fellow cast members Kana Hanazawa and Shinichiro Miki also participated in the talk.

The film marks a significant debut for director Ryo Katanosaka. Previously a freelance video creator who worked various part-time jobs, including in a supermarket fish department, Katanosaka was scouted by the studio after gaining attention for self-taught, independent animation work. He serves as the original creator, screenwriter, director, and animation director for this commercial project.
