Commemoration in Drinjača Marks 34 Years Since Slobodan Stojanović's Murder

On 27 July 2026, family members, officials from the Republika Srpska entity and Serbia, and representatives of local municipalities placed flowers at the grave of Slobodan Stojanović in Drinjača, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to mark the 34th anniversary of his killing. Serbian minister without portfolio Nenad Popović laid flowers on behalf of Serbia.

Stojanović, a 12‑year‑old Serbian boy, was brutally murdered in July 1992 by Elfeta Veseli, a member of a Bosnian Croat‑aligned unit. The boy's body was later identified by DNA and buried in Drinjača. Veseli was sentenced to 10 years in the first instance, later increased to 13 years by the Bosnian appellate court. The ceremony also recalled the Serbian Orthodox Church’s declaration of Stojanović as a new martyr.
